Introducing Great Pathfinder Wind

The Great Pathfinder Wind project provides an opportunity to help address Iowa's growing electricity demand with clean, homegrown energy while diversifying Boone and Hamilton Counties' economies and supporting jobs in the local community. The project is located in both Boone and Hamilton Counties.

Great Pathfinder Wind will create jobs and generate an entirely new long-term revenue source for local schools, governments, and landowners. In the long term, the project promises to bring sustained tax revenue to the county for the local government and schools, and more than 30 years of local purchasing, employment, and investment.

AN ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY FOR Boone and Hamilton Counties

Great Pathfinder Wind is generating a new long-term revenue source for Boone and Hamilton Counties, local government services, and property owners. The total direct financial impact to the region will be in the millions of dollars over the life of the project, with additional indirect economic benefits to the local economy.

Landowners that signed up property for the project will receive annual payments. These payments will continue over the projected 30-year lifespan of the wind farm, injecting tens of millions of dollars into the economies of Boone and Hamilton Counties to support local merchants, contractors, equipment suppliers, auto dealers, and others. The power from Great Pathfinder Wind is delivered to the Iowa electrical grid, reducing the need to import electricity from outside markets.
